Christmas (Red, White and Green)Wedding

Christmas weddings are beautiful weddings, the season is filled with joy and it's the best time to get a family together and celebrate. When thinking about Christmas one usually thinks of red, white and green. Everyone has certain things that remind them of Christmas time, mint for example because of the candy canes, or cookies because they get left out for Santa. And those things in themselves can also be part of the theme.

Flowers:
The picture below has red roses and white calla lilies with acorns and cranberry sprigs. This is a great option for a Christmas wedding because it not only matches the colours but speaks to the Christmas trees in season.

The Dress:
This dress is a beautiful Winter a-line off the shoulder Christmas Red Wedding Dress. It's not a tradition wedding dress by any means but it looks great and is a perfect fit for a Christmas wedding.

The Shoes:
With a long dress, the shoes aren't that visible or important. More than likely with a Christmas wedding there will be snow. For this reason a winter boot would be a fine choice, or a plain shoe, depending on how much walking the bride will do and how much snow and sludge there is.

The Groom:
If the bride decided to go with the red wedding gown above, than the groom should picture a suit with a red tie. They can match a little although of course they don't have to. A nice red tie with a white shirt and a black suit would work perfectly fine. Another option would also be an all black suit, black shirt and a white tie. This suit would play more to the snow aspect of Christmas but would work perfectly fine also, specially if the bride goes traditional with her dress.

The Invitations:
Any out of town/state/country guests would really appreciated a Save the Date card, especially if the couple really wants certain people there, it gives the guests time to make arrangements like flight plans, house sitters, booking days of work, etc so that they can make it to the wedding. After the Save the Date cards, a formal invitation should be sent to all the guests (even the ones that already got the Save the Date card). A great option for invitations would be the Stunning Outline invitation from Magnetstreet. To match the invitations there is an RSVP Card and Guest Information Card, Address Labels and Envelope Seals for the Stunning Outline set.

The Rings:
Birth Stone wedding rings are above and beyond amazing wedding rings and a perfect Christmas gift to each other. They are beautiful rings and just one more sign of two people coming together.

The Reception:
For a small wedding, Guest Signing Plates work as great guest books and with the theme being Christmas they work well with the idea of Santa's cookies and milk being out. A nice decorative glass can be put beside the plate to hold the marker and it can hold a few flowers and the guests can have fun signing in and writing their personal wishes on the dish that can be customized and that can stand proud in the couples home. Place cards for the guests are always optional and there are usually a lot of options. For this wedding because of the invitations, there is a matching place card option and because of the theme, a Christmas Ornament card holder would be perfect also.

The Food:
A traditional Christmas meal usually has a roasted bird of some kind (goose, duck, chicken or turkey) with mashed potatoes, gravy or a cranberry sauce, and some kind of stuffing. For dessert again the plate of cookies would be a great idea, with a glass of milk or hot chocolate. Great cookies could be the Traditional Sugar Cookie with a twist (image below), Thin Mint Cookies, and Cherry Chocolate Kisses Cookies. Coupled with a Hot White Chocolate Smoothie and they are the perfect end to a Christmas meal.

The Cake:
A nice idea for the cake would be to have a cupcake tower with a gingerbread house topper and possibly gingerbread men acting as the couple. Gingerbread houses are usually associated with Christmas and can be decorated to highlight the season and the themed colours. Great cupcakes for a Christmas wedding would be Peppermint Twist Cupcakes, and a Hot Chocolate Cupcake ( 2 cups all purpose flour, 2 cups of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 cup of butter, 3/4 cup of water, 2 large eggs, 3/4 cup of milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 3 tablespoons hot chocolate mix.)

Guest Favours:
A perfect idea for guest favours would be customized Christmas Ornaments! It doesn't get much better than that. Another great idea would be bags of cookies (cookies not included) as gifts or a mug with hot chocolate packages.

Centerpieces:
A great and cheap centerpiece would be a few trays of Christmas goodies. Like Grinch Crinkle Cookies, peanut brittle, Chocolate Mints, Santa's Hat party mix. Anything bite sized that embraces Christmas and leaving treats out for Santa. And Table Numbers can be added if needed.

Thank You Cards:
This Thank You card matches the invitation set, but Thank You cards don't always have to match the invitations. Some couples choose to send a picture from their wedding with a personalized note or a post card showing where they honeymooned.
