Halloween (Costume Party) Wedding

Costume Party themed weddings are great for the a wedding that includes children. It also helps out the parents because they can take their child out Trick or Treating and don't have to worry about what they end up looking like to head to the wedding afterwards. The only thing that a couple has to be aware of is that they can't put too many restrictions on their guests. A couple can't demand or expect every guest to dress up, and even if they set a certain theme (like superheros) they can't expect everyone to dress up like that theme either. The main thing any couple should focus on is what they will be dressed as and having their wedding party match them.

The Flowers:
Flowers are completely optional and may also depend on if there is a specific theme and what the couple chooses to dress up as. Also, if the bride just wants a simple bouquet, it doesn't really have to match anything as long as it doesn't clash with her costume.

The Bride and Groom:
The bride and groom and dress up however they want, it doesn't have to be superhero themed by any means. A cute idea is always to match (Superman and Lois Lane, Spiderman and Mary Jane, Salt and Pepper shakers, Hans Solo and Princess Leia, Cinderella and Prince Charming, the list goes on). It would also be nice if the wedding party matched, especially if they are couples also, but that is totally up to the bride and groom.

The Invitations:
Halloween parties often have things that people thing of as spooky or not normal, witches, and ghosts and often fortune tellers are included in the mystery and fun. If the couple thinks they would like that at their party than a great invitation would be the Quija Board type invitations.

(Left and Right)

If the couple does choose a theme like superheros or whatever than an invitation in that theme would be best but some invitation can be just generally Halloween themed that can be mixed and matched like the Crawling Spiders, or the Skulls.

The Rings:
With the theme of this wedding being so open and general the best wedding rings to get would probably be the traditional kind. Cartier has beautiful rings for both men and women all their rings are for both genders.

The Reception:
A new growing trend is thumbprint guest books. It's usually a picture (like below) and the guests put their thumbprint on the picture and sign it for the couple. These pictures are great examples and options for this wedding, they are Halloween themed but not too crazy or over the top. And a great card box would be anything spooky but not so much gruesome like this Spiderweb Box

With this theme being the most child friendly one, a sit down dinner probably isn't the best option for this wedding. And with there being no meal, seating really would be just a free for all and there would be no need for table numbers or place cards.

The Food:
This Halloween themed wedding is the best kid oriented one so having a sit down meal isn't the best idea. Kids don't want to sit still and eat a fancy meal, especially on a night they can be out Trick or Treating. A late wedding and reception would be best for this theme. But because it is Halloween a candy table would be a great idea or a desert table filled with themed type deserts and goodies. Great themed goodies are Ghost Cupcakes, Marshmallow Ghost Cookies, Marshmallow Eyeball Pops, Bat Spoons and Mummy Spoons, Donuts Spiders, Moon Pie KittiesOreo Eyeballs, Bug Fossil Cookies, and there are many other ideas here.

(Monster Pudding: Regular Pudding with Green food colouring topped with crushed Oreos)

The Cake:
Great cupcake options for this Halloween cake tower would be a Dark Chocolate Cupcake filled with a Passion Fruit Custard frosted with a Orange Glow in the Dark Frosting and a Apple Spice cupcake with a Caramel filling and frosted with a White Glow in the Dark Frosting.

Guest Favours:
These little Halloween buckets are perfect for a home made treat and they make great guest favours. Good for both adults and children these gifts are cheap and easy to make.

Centerpieces:
A perfect and simple idea for centerpieces is just carved pumpkins. Any design is fine and if someone is particularly gifted at carving or drawing they can make a special design for the couple specifically.

Thank You Cards:
Some couples choose to send a picture from their wedding with a personalized note or a post card showing where they honeymooned. So anything really would work fine, the card below matches the theme and it is a nice design.
